Robert E Discher, 92, of Port Austin, died on July 15, 2022 at Huron Medical Care Facility, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Port Austin on February 2, 1930, the son of the late Edward and Regina (Goretski) Discher.  Robert and Catherine (Gibbons) Discher were married in Ferndale, MI., on November 26, 1960 at Saint James Catholic Church.

Bob was a Machinist at Salvo Tool in Port Austin for 33 years.  He served in the army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion, Frank Horetski Post 499 in Port Austin.  He was also a member of the Port Austin Conservation club and was also a member of the Port Austin Fire Department.  He had numerous hobbies and enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at the Cabin in Kalkaska, MI, woodworking, as well as gardening, having a beer with his buddies at the Port Austin American Legion,  and loved spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine, his children, Robert  (Darlene) Discher, Jr. of Walled Lake, Edward Discher of Port Austin and his daughter Joann (Steven) Ignash of Kinde.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, who lovingly called him Poppy:  Jessica (Jeremy) Tomezak of Kinde, William (Noelle) Park of Port Huron, Charles, Douglas and Michael Discher all of Walled Lake and granddaughter Heidi Bakersville of Marion, Ohio and one great-granddaughter, Adyson Hall of Marion, OH.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 2-5 pm at the Port Austin American Legion, Post #499 with military honors.

A Special Thank you from the family to Seasons Change Hospice and the Staff at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.  Arrangements were through the Knoblock Funeral Home, Kinde.
