Richard L. Pettit, 82, of Port Austin died on July 9, 2015. He was born the son of the late George and Florence (Lobert) Pettit in Port Austin, Michigan on August 21, 1932.

Richard founded Richard Pettit Builders in 1963. He built and remodeled several homes and business before his retirement in 1995

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an excellent fisherman who had fabulous fish fries with his catch; something family and friends looked forward to every summer. He was a lifetime member of the Port Austin Conservation Club, Steel Headers Association, St. Michael's Catholic Church and an Honor Guard with the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his children; Linda Pettit, Richard (Julie) Pettit, Chuck Pettit, Kristie Newby and Michelle Bailey and his sister, Marilyn (Tony) Berry, Also surviving is the mother of his children Joann, and step-children, Joyce Loucks, Clyde Ward and Chris (Mindy) Allen

Surviving too, are his grandchildren: Justin Foley, Lindsay (Gerald) Besiada, Tyler and Tucker Pettit, Caitlin and Kelsey Newby, Amanda, Jason and Ford Bailey, Joshua Loucks, Melissa Loucks, Amber Camden, Tex Ward, Augustus (Katrina) Dufort, as well as his great-grandchildren; Kirra Noell, Keith Camden, Caleb Camden, Eliana and Aaliyah Ndubai, Keirra Johnston.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Pettit.

Visitation for Richard L. Pettit will be on Tuesday, July14, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 8:pm at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Port Austin Conservation Club or Port Austin Reef Light Association
