Margaret L. McKillop, 95, of Port Austin died peacefully Friday evening, November 16, 2018 at Country Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Pigeon, Michigan, her home since January, 2018. She had been under hospice care since October 19th .

She was born the daughter of the late Dominic (Dick) F. and Cecile L. (Lucy) (Gerardo) Berta on September 18, 1923 in Highland Park, Michigan. She and Robert S. McKillop were married in Highland Park on March 16, 1946. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1995.

While Robert served in the Army during WWII, she had graduated from the College of Education at Wayne State University and taught elementary school in Detroit for 4 years. Years later she substituted in the Ferndale School District.

Margie and Bob moved to Port Austin from Pleasant Ridge, Michigan in 1994, after buying her parents' house. They continued the tradition of having extended family summer holiday picnics in their yard, which continues to this day.

She was a former member of Drayton Avenue Presbyterian Church in Ferndale, Michigan. After moving near Port Austin she became a member of Kinde Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Guy) Periard, Port Austin, Judith (Joseph) St. George, Clarkston, Robert Scott McKillop, Port Austin, and Janet (Stephen) Smith of Bloomfield Hills. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Amy Weatherwax, Rick (Guy, Jr.) Periard, Jennifer Richardson, Timothy Periard, Carie Kotz, Lisa St. George, Robin Weatherwax, Adam St. George, Bennett Smith, Kevin Smith, Eleanor Smith, and Mary McKillop. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Noah, Reagan, Alix, Max, Nora, Dylan, Ella, Alaina, Emily, Corinne, Emmett, and Sawyer. She is survived by one brother, Raymond, and two sisters, Gloria Anderson and Carolyn Sanzobrin. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements through the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde.

Margaret's family wishes to thank the staff at Country Gardens and McLaren Hospice for all their loving care. A celebration of Margaret's life will take place during the summer of 2019. Memorials can be sent to either Hospice or Country Gardens.
