Ken J. Ruth, 83, of Port Austin died on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Huron Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe, with family at his side.

Ken was born on January 17, 1938 in Hume Township, the son of the late Clarence and Florence (Inda) Ruth.  He and Barbara Chagnon were married on September 7, 1962 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin.

Ken was the owner and chef at the Buccaneer Den at Port Crescent since the Spring of 1964 and remained in that business for 54 years.

He genuinely enjoyed cooking, playing euchre, and was a fond advocate of horses.  He loved spending time attending horse shows all the way from Toronto, Canada to Dothan Alabama with his daughters.   Some of his fondest memories were the time spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Barb, of 59 years and his two daughters: Charlotte (Scott) Kasper of Port Austin and Sally (Tom) Wadsworth of Sandusky, as well as his granddaughter, Abigail Kasper of Port Austin.

Also surviving are his brothers:  Delbert ((Diane) Ruth of Port Austin and Bill (Debbie) Ruth of Palm Harbor, Florida.  He was preceded in death by his brother Clarence (Chuck) Ruth.

There will be a memorial Mass celebrated, in his honor, at a future date.
