John Anthony McEntee, 70, of Port Austin, passed away at his home on July 12, 2026.  He was born in County Cavan, Ireland in 1956 to Patrick and Margaret McEntee.  He came to the United States at the age of eight, and while proud of his Irish heritage, he never looked back.  John felt most at home when surrounded by family and friends up here in Port Austin

John was a very hard worker, and he loved to stay busy.  He was always cracking jokes, telling stories, and was willing to share a drink with friends far and near.  The word "stranger" wasn't in his vocabulary.  They were just friends he hadn't met yet.  He was well loved by all who had the opportunity to know him.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Margaret; his brothers, Phil and Joe, and his son, Cory.  He is survived by his wife, Cathy Cook-McEntee; his daughter, Erin (Andrew) McEntee-Adams; his stepdaughters, Stacey and April; his siblings, Molly, Katie, Maggie, Gerry, and Kevin; and his grandchildren, Colt, Allison, and Audrey.

We will all miss him very much.  The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life at a later date.  More information to follow.  Arrangements are being handled by the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde.
