Joan M. Wiencek, 84, of Port Austin died Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at home.  She was born the daughter of John A. and Genevieve (Wisniewski) Krawczyk in Buffalo, New York on May 29, 1934.

She and Robert G. Wiencek, MD were married in Buffalo, New York on December 1, 1956.  He preceded her in death on January 27, 2004.

Joan graduated from Our Lady of Mercy HS, Buffalo, NY and Our Lady Of Mercy Nursing School as an RN.

Joan loved her children, grand children and great grand children most of all. Always the person ready with a plate of food when you walked in the door and you never left without a little something in your pocket or a small goodie bag of candy. Joan dabbled in painting and crafting and created a number of beautiful paintings, but her one true hobby was enjoying a winning trip to the casino.

Her home in Southfield Michigan was a safe haven to many over the years, for a few sisters to also sisters friends. Joan's home was always open if you needed a place to land. She loved helping others throughout her life.

Joan and Robert ("Doc") landed in Port Austin in 1987 and built their beautiful retirement home there in 1993. They both  loved the community, and felt and appreciated the love the community had for them.

Joan is survived by her children:  Robert (Lisa) Wiencek of Las Vegas,  Lynne Wiencek of Port Austin, Jerome Wiencek of Dearborn Heights, Douglas (Judy) Wiencek of White Lake and Leslie (William) Krukowski of Traverse City;  Her grandchildren: Catherine Wiencek, Robert (Laura) Wiencek, Megan (Randy) Sharp, Andrew (Mandi) Wiencek, Tiffany, Kody, Ryan, Justin, Douglas Jr., Craig, Joseph and Shane; Her great-grandchildren:  Owen, Luciano, Raegan, McKinley, Kennedy, Morgan, Teagan, and Kenlea.  She is also survived by her siblings; Sr. Janita, Fred, Christine McKee, Rosalyn McGuire, Gary, and Mary Ellen.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Richard.

Cremation has taken place.  A  Memorial Service will take place this summer at  St. Michaels Church of Port Austin, MI.
