Harry W. Ventline, 97, of Port Austin, passed away on October 26, 2022 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living. He was born on October 12, 1925 to the late John and Emma Ventline in Dwight Township where he completed school at Ford Country School.

Harry entered the service of our country on May 20, 1944 and was attached to Company I, 359 ^th Infantry Regiment, 90 ^th Division and assigned to the Light Machine Gun Group 604. During his time in service, Harry received an all expense paid cruise and tour of England, France, Belgium, Germany, and Czechoslovakia. During his time in the service, Harry was awarded the European Theater Ribbon with 3 Battle Stars, the WWII Victory Medal, the Germany Army of Occupation Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge, and the Purple Heart. On May 11, 1946, Harry was discharged from the Army, just 9 days short of two years.

On October 2, 1948, Harry married the love of his life, Edna Watchowski. For 65 years, they built a wonderful life together and she preceded him in death on September 5, 2014.

Harry worked numerous occupations and retired from Pigeon Manufacturing. Harry's favorite past time was being outdoors. An avid fisherman and hunter, the woods and the Pinnebog River were two of his favorite places. However, the one place you could always find Harry, was in his garden. While his abundant bounties of tomatoes and strawberries were ever present, nothing was as famous as his pumpkin and corn harvest each fall. Harry was a member of the Annunciation of the Lord Parish and a proud member of American Legion Post 499.

He is survived by his three sons, Walter (Janice) of Port Austin; Kenneth (Carole) of Port Austin; and David (Dawn) of Port Austin; daughter in law, Deb Ventline of Kinde; his beloved grandchildren, Lisa Ventline, Lori (Wayne) Kozlowski, Jennifer (Roger) Koglin, Michael Ventline, Bradley (Kayla) Ventline, Ryan Ventline & fiancé (Susan Gavagan), Kayla (Nate) Campbell, Justin (Jami) Ventline, Beth (Michael) Nienaltowski; and fourteen great-grandchildren that always made him smile, Sara Koglin, Tegan, Kole, & Brady Kozlowski, Macie & Karson Ventline, Mila, Beckett, & Reed Nienaltowski, Brooks & Ellasyn Ventline, Aleece Campbell, and Adelyn & Noah Ventline; and one great-great grandchild, Colt Tabb. Harry was preceded in death by one son, Donald Ventline; siblings, Delores (Adam) Osantoski, Joseph (Genevieve) Ventline, Edward (Geraldine) Leavine, Leo (Clara) Ventline, Matt (Agnes) Ventline, John (Edith) Ventline, Peter (Rose) Ventline, Anthony (Gertrude) Leavine, and Regina (Andrew) Miller.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 2 ^nd from 4pm till 8pm at Knoblock Funeral Home and Thursday at the Funeral Home from 9:30 am until 10:30 am prior to a procession to the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church of the Annunciation of the Lord Parish, Port Austin.  Burial with military honors  will follow funeral mass in church cemetery.
