Gerald Ranusch, 91, died May 23, 2026.  He was born on July 22, 1935, in Detroit, to the late August and Rose (Henning) Ranusch.

Gerald grew up in Detroit and graduated from Northeastern High School and then from Detroit Business College in 1950.  He served in the United States Army in Korea from 1951 to 1953.  He later retired from City Building Maintenance in 1998.  He moved to Huron County in 1998 after spending years at his cottage and has then spent winters in Bonita Springs, FL since 2003.

He was a member of FOE, St. Michael's Catholic Church, Ferndale Elks, Port Austin American Legion Post 499, Bonita Springs Moose, and was active in the Community Theater in Port Austin.

Gerald is survived by his children, Joe Ranusch of Livonia, Dave Cliff of California, Julianne Ard of Colorado, John Ranusch of Harbor Springs, and Carolyn Ranusch of California; his grandchildren, Catherine Ard of Denver, Kelley Ard of Fort Collins, Colorado, William Ard of Denver, Michael Ard of Denver, Caitlin Ard of California, and Allison Ranusch of Washington; and his sister-in-law, Carol of Clinton Township.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert and his nephew, Bobby.

A Funeral Mass will be held on July 22, 2026, at 11am at St. Michael's Catholic Church of the Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Port Austin.  Cremains will be interred at Great Lakes Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.  Arrangements are being handled by the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde.
