Eleanor C. Miller, 91, of Port Austin passed away peacefully at her home on September 21, 2021, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Port Austin, on January 19, l930, the daughter of the late Stanley and Pauline (Kula) Strozeski.  She married the love of her life, John W. Miller, on October 7, 1950, at St. Michael's.  He preceded her in death on April 24, l987.

Eleanor was blessed to have lived in the same home from birth to death.  Her faith was very important to her and so was her family.  She was well known around the Port Austin area for her sweet relish and various jams and jellies.  She previously worked at the vial factory in Port Austin, and she worked at The Port Austin Air Base as kitchen personnel for many years.  She farmed along with her husband while raising six children.  She also spent many hours canning, making jams and jellies, banana cakes, and took great pride in mowing and maintaining her beautiful yard.

She was a member of the Annunciation of the Lord Parish as well as a member of the St. Michael's Holy Rosary Sodality.  She previously spent many hours washing and pressing the altar linens for church, she was responsible for the beautiful display of various first communion pictures and former priests' pictures on display at the St. Michael's Hall.  She served as a funeral chairperson and/or helped with funeral dinners for many years.  She was a previous member of the U &I Club.  She loved to attend other parish dinners in the county with her friends, Connie Baranski and Stan & Jenny Kondziolka until her health declined.  Eleanor chaperoned many school field trips with her children and always seemed to be in control of the "rowdy" ones.  She attended many sporting events for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Many events were attended by her sidekick/companion and sister-in-law, Loretta Strozweski.  They were well known in the Warrior community.  She and her husband spent many hours together with their siblings visiting and playing cards together.  She also enjoyed the many visits and phone calls from all her nieces and nephews especially when she became the last living aunt for so many.

Eleanor is survived by her children: Dave (Dana) Miller, Diane (John)Reinke, Joyce Pode, Janice Schramski, Elaine (Tom) Moore, and Jeanne (Larry) Hartwick.  Her grandchildren: Brian Miller, Brad (Kelli Ottinger) Miller, Stacey (Rick) Kleinhoffer, Stephanie Crandall, Corey (Erik) Reinke, Katie (Kyle) Hardy, Jason (Amanda) Pode, Christopher (RhiAnnon) Schramski, Adrienne (Tony) Rutkowski, Haley (Evan) Dhyse, Brandon (Angelica Lutjens) Moore, Edward (Nicole) Hartwick, Andrew (Emily) Hartwick.  Also surviving are her great grandchildren:  Jake & Weston Miller, Nicolette & Richard Kleinhoeffer, Eathan Crandall, Ella & Carter Hardy, Jace Schramski, Molley & Brody Rutkowski, Lucille Dhyse, Andrew Breier, Marilyn, Audrey & Theodore Hartwick, and her sister-in-law, Arvella Franzel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her daughter, Theresa Miller, granddaughter, Jessica Pode. Son-in-law, David Schramski, granddaughter, Kim Breuss, mother and father-in-law John & Amelia Miller, siblings & spouses; Louis & Loretta Strozeski, Agnes Strozeski, Lawrence Strozeski, Theresa Strozeski, Mary and Edward Rice, Virginia & Felix Koroleski, brother and sister-in-law Franklin & Eileen Miller and several nieces and nephews.

A Special thank you to all the Hospice staff of Change of Seasons and Dr. Ali Khan for their dedicated and compassionate care in her final days.  Also thank you to Fr. Craig, Fr. TJ, Pastor Peter, and Fr. Nate for all the prayers and blessings during her final days.  Eleanor will be missed by all who knew her.  Her memory and traditions will live on through her family.

A private funeral Mass for immediate family will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Michael's Catholic Church of The Annunciation of the Lord parish in Port Austin.  Burial will follow in St. Michael's cemetery.  Arrangements through the Knoblock Funeral Home, Kinde, Michigan.
