Eldon Joseph Yaroch age 98 of Port Austin, Michigan passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. He was born at home in Port Austin, Michigan on November 14, 1925, to Enoch Yaroch and Loretta Alice (Mayes)Yaroch. He lived in Port Austin for the first part of his life and graduated from Port Austin High School in 1944. He joined the US Army through the draft in August of 1944, and was sent to the Pacific Theater. He served in Japan and the Philippines for 3 years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant before he was discharged and returned home to Port Austin. He was awarded the Bronze Star and a Presidential Citation for his service.

He moved to Detroit to go to trade school to become an electrician in 1946 and was employed by Detroit Edison. He agreed to a blind date with Jacquelyn Wilson in September of 1952 and there almost wasn't a 2nd date (he took her to a Detroit Tigers baseball game and she hated baseball, it went extra innings)   They were married June 13, 1953 by Rev. Father Karl Mayes at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church in Detroit. They lived in Detroit until 1985 and then made Port Austin their permanent home. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary before she passed away in March 2020. His greatest loves in life were his wife and his children and their families.

His wonderful life will forever be carried in the hearts of his children; Michael Yaroch, Sue (Paul) Finney, and Amy (Kelly) Carroll. Grandchildren; Travis (Renee) Yaroch, Joshua (Carly) Yaroch, Kaitlyn (Derek) Byerle, Michael (Amy) Yaroch, and Nicholas Carroll. Great grandchildren: Logan, Madelyn, and Liam Yaroch; Jackson, Nash, Braxton, Gatlin, Oaklyn, and Kinsley Yaroch; Caden, Harper, and Weston Byerle; Heath and Adaline Yaroch and Eldon and Cora June Carroll

Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Michael - Annunciation of the Lord Parish. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde and on Thursday, May 16 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church.
