Dahn Smith, 66, of Port Austin, Michigan and Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 27, 2023.  Dahn was born in Bad Axe, Michigan on December 3rd, 1956, to the late Rita (Mayes) and Kenneth Smith.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years Lori, beautiful daughter Lisa Scott, son-in-law Bradley Scott, and cherished grandbabies Rayland and Abby.

He is also survived by his sister Joan Fletcher, brothers Hugh, Joe, Leo (Linda) and John Smith, mother-in-law Pat Davis, sisters-in-law Lynn (Mike) Harner, Leah Davis (Fred Bellucci), Lucynda (Scott) Thrushman, Jean Smith, and Bonita Mackey. He is also survived by his god daughter, Stacy Steinman, and many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Along with his parents, Dahn is preceded in death by his sisters Lucy Ainsley and Mary Smith, his brother Ken and sister-in-law Rita Smith, as well as his father-in-law Fred Davis.

Dahn was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, camping, and hiking. Some of his many fishing trips took him to Costa Rico, Florida, Alaska, Mexico, and Wyoming. While he traveled near and far searching for the perfect anglers' experience, he especially enjoyed fishing out in front of his Port Austin home whenever possible and with whomever possible.

Dahn was also a huge sports fan, rooting for both Michigan and Arizona teams.  He attended countless sporting events from high school, college, and many professional sports including a trip to the World Series in 2001, and the Superbowl in 2008. He was most recently a soccer enthusiast attending his grandson Rayland's games. He passed his love of sports and competitiveness to his daughter and grandchildren.

Dahn was the fun-loving life of the party. He seemed to always find a way to make others feel welcome and included in the fun. Dahn's life was full of stories and when he told them, the stories that he seemed most fond of often included moments and experiences shared with some of his dearest friends.

Dahn was a kind and generous man. He provided his time, ability, and resources to those in need. If you needed a hand, he offered it. If you needed a meal, it was on him. If you needed a laugh, he had you covered. His absence will be felt by many.

Dahn and Lori traveled west to build their own little piece of paradise. They successfully operated a block wall construction company until Dahn retired in 2011.

Dahn loved most spending time with his family and friends and lived an abundant life. His true calling and maybe most important role was that of "grandpa" to Rayland and Abby. He adored them and spent countless hours playing with them and serving as their best bud. They were the light of his life. He fostered a safe place for their young minds to wonder and be kids. The joys and experiences he brought to their lives are irreplaceable. They are the happiest of kiddos due, in no small part, to the copious hours and work he put in as Grandpa. They, without a doubt, are his legacy.

Per Dahn's wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Knoblock Funeral home is handling arrangements.
