Curtis W. Gossett , 83, passed away July 14, 2023, after a long battle with dementia, at Courtney Manor Nursing home in Bad Axe, MI. He was born on May 24, 1940, in Gadsden, AL, the son of the late Arthur and Rosa Mae (Deerman) Gossett.  He was married to his wife, Lillian (Jaworski) Gossett, for 40 years.

Curtis, a member of St. Michael's Church, was a dedicated iron worker 30+ years and continued to enjoy welding into retirement. He turned his work into a hobby by making yard art, of which he created many fascinating, eye-catching pieces. He enjoyed sharing his work for a few summer seasons at the Port Austin Farmers Market. He and Lillian also enjoyed their 20 years splitting their time in Zephyrhills, Florida, where he also enjoyed golfing. He loved classic country music, western movies, and playing some fun games of cards - especially if that time was shared with his wife, family, and friends.

He is survived by one son, James Gossett, three stepchildren, Randy (Kim) DeBlois, Roxanne (Rick) Roedel, Roger (Lynn) DeBlois.  Three grandchildren, Rachel (Josh) Harrison, Joshua (dog, Wilson) Jackson, Bethany (Nathan) Myers, Nathanial (Angie) Crusoe, Patrick (Marissa) Holt, Phillip Holt, Nichole Gonzalez, 7 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Lorena Gossett. He also has many cousins, nieces, and nephews he cared for dearly. Curtis was preceded in death by son Joe Gossett, and brothers Pete (Virginia) Sims, Grady (Corinne) Gossett, and Earl Gossett.

A big thank you to the staff at Courtney Manor, A & D Hospice care for their comfort and hugs, and Becky Lyons for your generosity of traveling to the nursing home to tend to his hair care needs.

A Funeral Mass for Curtis Gossett will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at St. Michael's Catholic Church of the Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Port Austin, with Fr. Craig Carolan officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Knoblock Funeral Home Kinde, and at the church on Monday morning, from 10:00am until the time of the Mass at 11:00 am.
