Bernard John (Ben) Jaworski, age 95 of Port Austin, passed away Feb 21, 2023, at home peacefully in his sleep.  Born to the late Florian & Martha (Kozlowski) Jaworski on March 23, 1927.  He attended Hellems School graduating from the 8th grade and then stayed home to help his father on the farm. In 1948 he started farming on his own and in the winter months worked at Dodge Main in Detroit.

He met his future wife, Joan, while she was vacationing in the Oak Beach area. They married on May 16, 1953 at St. Michael's Church in Port Austin, MI and raised three children on the farm. Ben farmed his entire life working hard and took pride in milking cows and raising beef cattle to sell. He also loved planting a big garden with lots of potatoes. Always enough to feed his family all year and then some.  During the winter months he worked at the Port Austin Elevator, Mayes Level factory, Paper Roll factory, and Richard Pettit Builders. He retired from farming in 1989 but still hired out working for other farmers in the area for many years.

He enjoyed traveling after retirement, taking his wife on a wonderful trip to Hawaii and spending time during winters in Florida for 20 years.  He loved to play euchre and going to the casino. He spent many years deer hunting in the U.P. and, later in years, around the farm where he bagged many bucks. He also liked perch fishing along the shore in Port Austin. He enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, attending the Port Austin winter carnival and participating in many of the events.

He was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and an usher for many years. He was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He served on the Port Austin School Board, Kinde Area Fire Board and was a Trustee for Dwight Township.

Ben enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Ben is survived by his wife Joan of 69 years, , two sons, Dale (Mary) Jaworski of Port Austin, MI., Dennis (Annette) Jaworski of Milford, MI., and one daughter, Kathy Schramski, Wyoming, MI.  His Sisters; Joann Pettit, Lillian Gossett, Irene Breuss, Leona Servay, Lorraine Rice, one brother Frank Jaworski, sisters-in-law, Gertrude Jaworski, Charlotte Jaworski and Delores Jaworski, brother-in-law Curt Gossett.

Also surviving are his grandchildren: Brent (Amy) Jaworski, Deanna (George) Janssen, Nicholas Jaworski & Nina Fields, Lyndsay Jaworski and fiancé Chase Stevens, Andrea (Matthew) Sikkema, Erin (Robert) Paradis and Kayla (Keegan) Pacic.  He was known as Papa by his great grandchildren and will be greatly missed by Cooper, Emma & Ella Jaworski, Connor, Presley, Finnigan and Knox Janssen, Freya Jaworski, Miles and Avery Sikkema and Gabriel, Eleanor, Mitchell and Eliza Paradis, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters; Dorothy Pincoski, Bernice Micklash, Agnes Goretski, and Helen Inda, and his brothers Chester Jaworski and Floyd Jaworski; brothers-in-law Leo Pincoski, Ernie Micklash, Ervin Goretski, Sylvester Inda, Eugene Breuss, Gerald Rice, and son-in-law Michael Schramski.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb, 25 at Annunciation of the Lord Parish, Port Austin, MI. Visitation from 10am until time of service at 11am. Burial immediately following in the church cemetery.
